Range Report: work and play

Almost all the snow is gone and the mud isn’t too bad so I did some work on the range. Most targets were buried in the snow so I was not able to shoot for more than a month.

The spinners in the traps are about 25 yards from the edge of the driveway.

I dug these into the berm as a temporary solution. They are 50 yards if I shoot from the house side of the driveway.

BEAUTIFUL berm you have now Gene and would love to have one like it! Unless we have a real dry summer it stays to soft where I want to put one.
Maybe plant some field grass on it to help stop erosion.

Yes, that's a nice berm. Enjoy the shooting in the nicer weather!

I had a lot of erosion from the spring runoff and plan on seeding the berm with wildflowers.

Now it’s Brewers baseball and bullets. I finished work for the day and am now shooting more seriously while I listen to the brewers game on the radio.
I started with the H001 SGC but couldn’t hit the spinner. I was seated with my elbows on the table.

My problem with the Henry was I couldn’t see the spinner. I’m shooting directly south and the inside of the trap is shaded plus the berm is shaded.
So I fetched the Mares Leg Charger which is scoped.

I had much better luck. I’m guessing the trap is 35 yards from the bench.

Nice shooting and great range view!
Thanks forty. I need to plant bushes and grasses on it not only to reduce erosion but to make it look better from the house. It’s quite visible from inside the house which makes me shoot more.

The targets are a lot more visible in the early morning sun.

Better keep your 45/70 handy, I think I spotted an African Lion on top of your berm.
That really looks great and your wildflower/bush/shrub idea will make it even more so. Happy you’re out getting to use it again.
