Report On The Range

Post by Sir Henry » Sun Mar 19, 2023 8:46 pm

I ordered some rimfire spinner traps and put them together today. I’m thinking of putting them out at 25 yards when the snow melts. The 11x11” traps are not challenging enough at 25 yards and even those at 50 yards aren’t all that hard to hit.

This trap is at 25 yards. The traps at 50 yards are buried in the snow. I will need to elevate them from three to four feet to keep them above the snow. The one in the picture below is designed to have a paper target attached but I need something more challenging without having to walk to the target in the winter.

Some years March. Some years April. Some years May. Currently there is still three feet on the ground.

Actually, almost never in March, over here. March is still a winter month in the north woods. Have never seen the grass on our lawn till well into April.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I’ve only been here for part of last winter and this will be my first complete winter so I don’t have a lot of history. I bet all the snow won’t be gone till May this year. These pictures were taken a week before Valentines Day and on Saint Patrick’s Day. At the peak the snow was almost covering the sculpture in the foreground.

The snow had completely buried the one heart that you see in this picture and I didn’t see it when I pulled the hearts.

Very common for us to have one big snowstorm first half of April, so don't get in a burry about the snow melting. :)

Gene, are those two bullet traps with the circle and duck spinners for airgun’s or rimfire? I tried to find them online but could only find the pellet version. My neighbor wants to put a small rimfire range at his place and I thought those would be fun. Thanks.

They are for rimfire. Disregard the description and click on the rimfire box.
