My 76 year old eyes just can't handle that buckhorn sight well at all so decided to scope my Henry. Got the mount from Evolution Gun Works and the 2X8X20 scope off of eBay. A range trip yesterday testing handloads at 75 yards yielded very good results. One 158 grain JHP load over 2400/14.6 grains printed a 1.6" group at 75 yards producing 1685 fps. My Henry seems to prefer the heavier bullets. I tested a load with a 125 grain JHP over H-110 powder. It shot 7" higher on the target at 75 yards than the 158 grain with accuracy hovering around 2.5". Next testing with be with 170 grain cast HPs, poly coated and a gas check.

Since mounting the scope, I've discovered the Henry butt stock is a bit too long for my 5'7" frame. I have to creep up on the stock to get a full view thru the ocular eye piece. I really hate to have the butt stock cut down, especially with the nice brass crescent butt plate but I don't know what else to do? I can't move the scope back any further in the rings, it's maxed out now.

Why not try a different scope.
