Results of the six 45 Colt test loads. Accurate #5 mild load. 200gr Gallant coated.

Cimarron 1858 New Army Conversion. 45 Colt, 8 inch barrel.
Distance 113 feet. Side of a tree as a wrist rest.

2 1/2 hits on 10 inch steel plate.
The other 2 1/2 in the dirt.

Thanks. I was surprised I could hit the target at that distance with a pistol. I suppose the 8 inch barrel and tree rest had a lot to do with it.
I previously tested and adjusted 45 Colt loads for recoil comfort. I didn't have those targets then. Those where shot into the dirt. About the same distance.
CFE Pistol behind 250gr Nosler JHP
CFE Pistol behind 230gr Berry's copper plated RN
Accurate #2 behind the 200gr Gallant
Once dialed in, they are all comfortable to shoot. Someday soon I shoot'em for accuracy check.

What forty said. Good shooting. I need to get some 45 colt put together too. I have to work 4 hours tomorrow then I have the rest of the week off. If another fire doesn't pop up maybe I will get something done on the bench. Thanks for the inspiration.
