Enjoyed a handfull of 44 Mag.......

Post by fortyshooter » Sun Mar 05, 2023 7:20 pm

Took the Ruger SBH and the Colt Anaconda out for some plinking today and both shot really well. Had the field of steel setup plus a couple of card targets and proceeded to have some fun on a nice Sunday afternoon. Had my new cross draw holster for the Anaconda on the right and standard 7.5 inch strong side cowboy holster on my left for the SBH and yes that was some weight around the waist. The two loads I liked were my MB 240 gr cast with 18.5 of 2400 powder and the Matt's 230 gr. SWC gas check bullet with 9 gr. Unique which is a great mid level mag load. The 240 MB load is a bit stouter and you hear it too but recoil wasn't bad at all with the two big revolvers and shot quite a few of them.
That Anaconda can really put them in the red zone if you do your part and most all of those shots were in DA mode.
Here if you want to hear some steel.... https://youtu.be/auweFYF3D3A

This pair of 44 Mag shooters makes for a great winning hand!

Serious revolvers there and some darn good shooting forty! Everything was clicking I'd say. Gonna watch the video soon.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

It looks like you had a fun day.

I'm in the middle of two AR builds, and testing for about 50 loads. I've simply not had the time to go out and do it. Part of that reason is that I am still waiting on my bushwacker 46 v2 stamp. Once that gets here, I am anticipating more consistent accuracy and speed numbers.

Holy cow forty, that’s a lot of iron handing off your belt.

Great shooting and great job of having fun!

Yeah had to cinch up the belt a notch or two and it helps anchor you down firing those 44 Mags!

Good shooting Forty. Great cartridge, but I'm just not a fan of the recoil that it dishes out. Even in 357 the only time I load up magnum loads is for the rifles.
