From both the granular look of the break and the satin polish of the hammer it looks like a cast part. Seems you noticed that too. Glad no harm to you.
Yep cast stainless just like Ruger revolvers are made for frame and some MIM parts. Just looks like a really thin area wear it broke,
I did a search and can't find other cases of it happening so far. Maybe I tell them I had a .410 round in it so they can't scream "reloads" .
I know my loads are right and with Unique on the Dillon 550B you will get a .2 grain variation but not enough to blow a hammer off.

Since I don't reload, these are the ones I like using in my Bond Arms Rowdy:

(Glad I bought mine before these crazy new prices, lol)

I have the same press and have reloaded on it for two decades. NO issues.

Called Bond Arms this morning and explained the problem and a FedEx shipping label is on the way. Might take up to 8 wks. to see it again.

I must add another clue to the broken hammer. About a week or so ago the Grizz did fall out my holster and skid on the gravel side of road while bending over to take care of Buster. Didn't see any damage to it so who knows if that had anything to do with it. But guns are designed to take a hit now and then. Will give a report when it returns.

Things that make you say “hmmmmm”. Happy you weren’t injured but that was a close call. Hope Bond will make everything right for you.

Have to say that I always believed the hammers were solid steel. These are high quality little guns and don't like the idea of them being cast.

I had thought about buying the 357 version. Guess not.

Glad you're ok forty. Must have been an awakening moment. Doubt that I'd put any trust in that gun ever again. Dang.
