Those are some mighty fine looking rifles there. Now for those target groups lets just say it sort of reminds me of my offhand shooting. I've always been fond of the spray and pray method. It's a matter of conservation. You use all the paper and as much of the backer as possible.

Randy,
That's some Really Good Shootin', Some beautiful Rifles, and one of the coolest rugs to showcase them on ever, Sir! Did you shoot that?
Yeah, RanchRoper has set the bar kinda high for offhand shots, but you still did very good! I wish my offhand shots were that good. I went to the range today myself. While I waited for my 30-30's barrel to cool in between groups (40* temps make fast work of that, fer shure..... ) I shot at a paper plate with a dot on it 2with the Golden Boy .22. Did nowhere near as well as you do.
You folks that can shoot that well offhand have my utmost admiration and respect. It ain't easy!

Re: Lol, some offhand shooting
You didn't say what your point of aim was, but I learned a long time ago that a fine point of aim helps a lot. A 6 o'clock hold with the dot floating on the front sight for bullseye really works well. Floating the ten ring on the front sight works well for B27 or other competition targets. Say you are shooting pin shaped targets slow fire, shoot at the join of the body and neck... a finer point of aim.
When I was shooting competition, I used a neck / shoulders hold for long range. Aiming for the throat tightened my groups considerably at the 500/600 yard lines. It greatly reduced my wobble area. I set my sights so these holds dropped the rounds dead center in the bullseye.

Re: Lol, some offhand shooting
Really nice rifles looks great, about offhandshooting I always aim 6 o'clock with opensights. About shooting in general its all about the quality of the rangetime, sometime its just for fun, other times its more serious but all times its about having a good time.

Re: Lol, some offhand shooting
Jimmie, the Bobcat was giving to me by a friend, the nose and ears had gotten freezer burnt.
He was going to throw it away, so I got it and had it tanned for just this reason.
Figured it would add to my pictures.
Broken I was trying to keep the bullseye sitting like an apple on a fence post.
I should have added the bright orange dot earlier, as it did help with the sight picture.
Thanks for the advice.

Looks good Randy. RR gives all of us something to shoot for. He is in a class by himself.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Re: Lol, some offhand shooting
I’m feeling inspired to do some offhand shooting next time I’m at the range.
We’ll see if I post a range report.
