I understand that the County sicced the biologists on the Vulture problems and it has been reduced. Since the Vultures are protected, they couldn't use the "ultimate" solution, so I'm not sure what they did, but in looking for a link to add here, I looked at a lot of recent articles on Dutch Gap and only a couple comments mentioned the pesky things. This is a good overview of the Barge Canal and a hint at how it came to be. Wikipedia has a good write up on the history of the canal and how IT came into being.

My Trip was years ago, and yes, "everyone" does end up taking a pic in front of the "Captain D"
As you can see, our group went there to fish. We did catch a bunch. We had to paddle back against the current of the James and it was NOT fun.
