28F at the range, and after a long (2 years maybe?) spell of shooting black powder only, I took my 1885 Highwall out for a spin.
45 Colt reloads
7.0 grains Universal
Winchester primers
250 gn LFN
Windy today, but I thought I'd go big or go home. 100 yds off hand. I put a rear tang peep on this rifle when I first got it. Works good, takes some getting used to. Funny thing is, I thought this rifle was very heavy when I first got it, but after shooting my long guns it feels very compact with it's 30" barrel.
10" target, 100 yds off hand, I didn't crop out the flyers

, I had a few in the wind for sure. But all in all not too bad. Tough to steady that heavy barrel.

8" steel, 100 yds off hand, fun to hear it ring!

Fantastic shooting RR! That combination of MB and Universal is one of my favorites, but I like a splash more powder at 7.4 gr. Seems to shoot better in my Marlin 1894 cowboy. Stick with what works for you.

Very well covered target and looks like you picked up where you left off 2 years ago RR !

Question for you, RR. How long a muzzle loading session with your Frontier would it take to fill a bullseye with that many shots? I have a fair idea, but it might be interesting to know for folks that don't shoot black powder muzzle loaders.

Again, another successful trip to the range only surpassed by the pic.

Well done on both!

Well, that's likely a 4 hour session with the flintlock minimum, including a change of flints halfway through, plus some bore swabbing. It was about an hour with the single shot Highwall.
About 5 minutes with the 1860 Henry....

Great thread. I especially liked the time comparison.
