Range Report: life of Riley
Another day in paradise being Riley. Today I stepped outside with my Charger Mares Leg and made some noise.
This is a sweet little pistol and while not a quarter inch shooter at 50 yards I can put 7 of 10 rounds in a 5” circle offhand.

Always admired your home made ML version of the 10/22. You did a great job on it.

I’ve always wanted to put a cutdown Fingergrove Sporter stock on it. I’ve searched for a damaged stock where I wouldn’t ruin the value of it but have not found one.North Country Gal wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 11:09 amAlways admired your home made ML version of the 10/22. You did a great job on it.

No reason to let Bill Ruger have all the fun. Here Ben Henry shoots some shorts.
In a way the Ruger is more fun to shoot because I don’t have to drop the stock to cock it. With no shoulder stock it’s hard to keep it in place like a rifle when you cock it. I’ve always thought a pump action would make a better Mares Leg. Second best would be a bolt.

Now I have an ax to grind! I shot three 000 Buck shells at the snow. You can see where they hit a few feet in front.

My least favorite Mares Leg. It just doesn’t have the fun factors as my Henrys or even the Charger.
It’s a 92 Rossi Ranch Hand in 38/357. It’s been years since I’ve shot it.

Now my most expensive Mares Leg. I make this years ago before Henry made one in .22WMR. Mine is with a cutdown Frontier barrel and the only octagon HenryMares Leg I’ve ever seen.

I get it about trying to work a lever on a Mare's Leg. I can see where it would be awkward. A pump might be better. but pretty slim pickings in a new pump these days and I'd hate to cut up a classic vintage pump.
