Uberti 1873 Winchester 44 Mag fun from 50 yds.
Down at the range today and decided to throw up a blue plate and see what me and the 1873 could do from 50 yds free hand standing.
Load I love to shoot in this one is the 200 gr. Xtreme plated loaded over 9 gr. Unique. First shots hit at top so I adjusted with a 6 o'clock hold best I could on that plate way down there. Drifted a bit to right in last shots but all in all not bad with old eyes and my modified buckhorn sight.
The sight is not like the ghost ring insert on my Henrys but more like a opened up "U" with a slightly wider .125 brass front blade or post sight.
Didn't shoot too bad! Then moved over to blast away at the swinging steel bulls eye target and had those segments spinning.
Haven't shot my carry pistol in a while the Fat Boy 1911 double stack 45 and fired 3 shots holding at top of plate area where my writing was.
This from a quick 6 yds. and the shots were right there. I love this little 1911 ! Those rounds are my tried and tested 230 gr. XTP with 6.5 Unique and what is always carried in my 45 ACP pistols and carbine.
But one last little target! I noticed a lonely dandilion in the range area and thought why not with the 1873. So hunkered down to the ground from 15 ft. I nailed it first shot. Of course nobody but me around to notice and no video of it but it did disappear with a bunch of those little yellow pedals in the air! Looked around and found another one a distance away and tried to hit it 3 times with no hit while my video was running. Well that's how it is!
Anyway wrapped things up with a break and then on down thru the woods to setup my trail cameras. Was a great day to shoot!

Yes to both! Carries easily ISWB holster and 10-13 rounds depending on mag with one in chamber. I always fill mags to 1 less round for feeding reliability. Really shoots well for me with a 2 hand push/pull type grip. Only thing I could do without is the ported barrel/slide which will throw flash up in your sight at night and why it is day carry only. Springfield XDE for night or day.

Nice shooting forty, that's a nice little 1911 , can't go wrong with a rock island they're excellent firearms. I have the armscor citadel it's been with me 12 years and always goes BANG. Armscor is the parent company of Rock island, some folks might be surprised how many different companies they make 1911s for

Great shooting forty. I’m jealous of your shooting trailer and range. Mine is a pigs wallow right now.

Maybe during a dry period get you some rock/gravel spread around the area in front of berm where you need to walk and shoot from.
I had 40+ tons of rock and then gravel put down in area of my range because of soft muddy areas during a wet winter and spring.
Made a big difference!

Good idea for the spring. My berm was pushed up too late for me to do anything this fall.fortyshooter wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 5:07 pmMaybe during a dry period get you some rock/gravel spread around the area in front of berm where you need to walk and shoot from.
