First shot, just high of the bullseye section,
Snapped the bolt

just a 325+gr chuck of lead.

The gong is 3/8" thick AR500 steel 12"x24"
Slapped the center section plum around,

Likin' that 444 Randy! A very underrated round. Re-grouping a bit after getting back from Idaho.
We'll be talking.

I used to shoot the 444, so not surprised at all.

Yes just the bolt,

but
what an impact.
I'll be replacing both with a grade 8 bolts.

Me, I'd use cheap skinny bolts. There is thrill in seeing something fly apart when shot

I think this comes under the category of cruel and unusual treatment.

I just use the carriage type bolts which have no sharp corners for the targets that have the square holes. They will lose their heads after a good bit of use and not too expensive to replace. Of course the eagle eye shooters will hit the head sometime and game over!

That's a serious chunk of lead. I don't think I've ever seen a 444 in person.

I have a buddy who will intentionally shoot the chains.

It definitely is Dave, I cast them myself.
Love 444's I have 2, the other one has a 22" barrel and is scoped, got a friend that keeps trying to get me to part with but I don't want to let it go.
This one is the 18.5" and is ported, only made for 3 years.
