Range Report: testing Quiets and SV at 50 yards in the rain.

I finished weatherising the motor home and decided to plink.

It was raining so I stayed under the covered entryway. The 50 yard line was at the brick/concrete line so I was actually shooting from 54 yards. The pans on the hill were the bullets destination. I shot both 40 grain Quiets which gave me richochets last time at 25 yards. I didn’t experience any coming this far back but after 5 shots I switched to SV which will poke a hole through the frying pans.

This is a great setup. It’s like living in a range clubhouse. I literally shot ten feet from where this picture was taken.

Got to hand it to you shooting on such a miserable day. I was tempted to step out on our deck for some shooting, but our deck isn't covered. I love shooting, but I hate getting my guns wet.

It wasn’t too bad as I was under cover. This winter when it’s bitterly cold I hope to continue shooting. When I was in Ephrata and it was zero degrees I would freeze in just a few minutes of unloading everything. Here I can walk outside and shoot for five minutes and then come back inside to warm up. My house is small and nothing special yet the layout and territory makes it perfect.
The number one criteria when I was looking was can I shoot year round.

I’ve found I shoot a lot better if I shoot everyday even if it’s only for ten minutes. I’ve done two sessions already today. Brrrrrrr. It’s cold out there.

I'm that way with my guitar playing; need to practice at least 20 minutes a day. I always figured it'd be easy to do after I retired. Seems I figured wrong.......
And shooting is the same, for me. Always been a "use it or lose it" type of skill for me.
I envy you getting to shoot at home. My club range is only 10 minutes away from my home, which is good. Just wish I utilized it more often....... I gotta get my priorities straight, I guess.

I was a gallon of gas each way to the range in Seattle (Woodinville). A lot of times I would make a major production of going to the range and then choke up when I got there. Now I shoot whenever I get a hankering. Sometimes that’s only a tube or magazine. I may do that one to five times a day.
