Back to my home range with SGC

While the 50 yrd range was fun, it is a little expensive for weekly shooting!
So I'm back at my local range and 25 yrds! Normally, I'm not that good of a shot to compare
ammo.....but I thought I would give it a try! Needless to say, my Small Game Carbine ran great!

Here's the lane, I was sitting with my elbows on the bench.

The center bulls eye was shot at 15 yds to verify my sight picture using Winchester Super X 40 gr Hollow Points.
It appears I'm shooting a little high and to the right, which I've heard others reporting the same!
The rest was shot at 25 yds.......CCI Mini Mags 40 gr round nose on the left side and the Win Super X on the right side.
The upper bulls eye's were really me getting use to the distance! The center bulls eye's, I was actually aiming at the top gray ring of the middle bulls eye. I seemed to settle down and get nicer groups! The bottom targets turned out to be my best! But I was compensating my sights by aiming at the blue line lower left in the 9 area! All in all, I'm happy with the results! Although the Winchester seemed to wait for me to warm up for tighter groups, I wouldn't hesitate to buy more. Looking forward to my next time at the range!!

Great shooting, Ace. I'd be very happy with those results, too. That's one beautiful rifle. And, thanks for the range report with all of the details and for sharing your targets and your impressions of the ammo. I enjoyed reading it.

Looks like you did good. Don't you just love the Henry rifle cases?

Very good shooting...as you said, the bottom two bulls got blasted nicely! You got me eagerly looking forward to taking my SGC out again.
And SH is right....that Henry Orange Rifle Case looks really cool with the carbine on top.

Where is the coffee cup for the shooting bench?!?

Thanks guy's! That Henry case is definitely worth the money!!
And yes, I forgot the coffee cup!
I'm tempted to do something with the sights being slightly off.....but I'd like to shoot
it from a bench rest first to get a steady consistent group. So now I'm looking at bench rests!

Thats a really cool rifle. May be my next Henry (if not the 45-70AW or pump .22).

That is a really nice rifle. Love the case too. I can't get those cases in Canada, but would love to have one. Nice shooting too. Way to go. :)

I also have a SGC 22LR. It is a lot of fun no mater what the range.
It also shot high, I went to Skinner and bought a front sight of the post type .500" tall. I can adjust for dead on aiming now. Customer Service at Henry said they would make corrections but I wanted it zeroed to my preference not someone else. And I wanted the post style sight similar to my M1.

I am considering a 45 colt Henry Carbine. Yours truly will be doing the sight on it.

Thanks Steve, I'll look at Skinner's web site!
