Plinking the pins off the bench......

Post by fortyshooter » Sun Sep 18, 2022 4:12 pm

Down at the range today to try my bench after adding the taller legs and also adding the offset rails for it on the mobile platform.
Took the Henry X 45 along as the test rifle and set up my steel bowling pin flippers. Using what I had handy like a roll of paper towels for a soft
riser for the Henry the table height was perfect for me and the chair I had on the platform. Easy hitting the pins from 35 yds. and no problem hearing the loud thud of the 45 slug hit.
The Henry loves that 255 gr Xtreme with 6 gr, Red Dot!

Just need to make up the support braces for the 2X4 rail extensions as the jack stands were just for mounting purposes.

Nice setup. It’s always so much more fun when it’s comfortable.

Forty;

Do you find your table bouncing off the outside support jacks? I am thinking more long distance shots (i.e. 100yds)?

With what I was shooting that day I didn't notice any bounce. The frame rails on the trailer are of open "C" type rail and can twist so I'm just going to make up a pair of adjustable jacks like I did for the rear of trailer to give support for the table runners.
This setup is for easy shorter range plinking and when I need to go 50 or more I have the 10x10 deck to shoot off of that you see in the background.
Had the trailer sitting around and thought why not use it and not have to walk back and forth setting up table chair and all that....just roll it out to where you want.
The wasp seem to love it too when I rolled it back to it's storage spot they were all over it looking to build a nest....." Let's nest in Forty's toys" :lol:
