Messin' with 44's and another range project........

Post by fortyshooter » Fri Sep 09, 2022 3:32 pm

Have had this 4x8 Harbor Freight trailer just sitting around for couple years and had an idea for it. Will use it for a mobile shooting platform I can
position at whatever distance I need. Going to add 1 1/2 foot of floor to the front side for 5 1/2 foot width and add a bench top to that side also.
Will also add a pair of adjustable feet at rear to prevent tipping and a shade type top.

So to try the idea out I brought along my 44 Mag 1873 Uberti lever carbine and my 44 Ruger SBH. The load for all was the 200 gr. Xtreme plated with 9 gr. Unique. Targets were some old NRA 50 ft. small bore rifle targets I set out at 20 yds. for the carbine and then I walked up to 10 yds. with the SBH.
Once I got settled down shooting from sitting position and off hand standing the carbine stacked them up in the black zone. The Ruger did well too.

Well, dang forty! You're having yourself a ball around there. Those wheels upstairs always turning. I like this idea. Fun time shooting right there!

Necessity is the mother of invention. Good job of creative thinking.

Good job, can't wait to see the finished product.
Kinda like the hunt'n shack my ex neighbor and I built years ago.
Took an old 5x8 trailer and built a 5x6 box fully enclosed. Easy to move to where the game are.

So I say you need to have Mrs. fourty pull the trailer as you are shooting. Thatโ€™ll give carnival shooting a new twist.
