I made a decision to shoot my Ruger SR22 and four minutes later I was making noise. Too much noise for my liking as I was shooting 40 grain HV. Then I switched to SV, Quiets and CB longs. Only the HV would cycle the action fully. The SV came close yet couldn’t quite get the hammer to cock. The Quiets were giving me stovepipes.

Oh well it was fun going through the motions.
I don’t care about people hearing me as most have told me they can’t hear me shooting and when they do hear it’s not very loud. My closest neighbor told me she likes to hear shooting as it reminds her she lives in the country.

What I don’t like doing is scaring the birds. I can generally shoot SV in a rifle and they don’t fly away. Today they didn’t like HV in a pistol.

Back to the drawing board so to speak. This Ruger Charger is a lot quieter with the SV and no problem cycling. With the scope there was no missing the gong at 18 yards.

I like your custom stock Charger. I still think about getting another Charger because they are so much fun to shoot. Maybe a little too fun if you are trying to save the ammo.

I really like this mare charger. A lever action mares leg is cool because of its history however it’s hard to cycle in the “up” position because there is no buttstock to hold the rear from going down when cycled. With a semi you don’t have to worry about it. I’ve thought about making a pump mares leg because I think it would be perfect. I’m reluctant to make one because I would have to start with a lever mares leg and transfer the pump parts over. I believe the receivers are the same. Of course the easy way would be to add a lever mares leg stock to a pump rifle and cut the barrel. That is easier but illegal and I’m not going to break the law.

Great way to spend some free time Gene. That Ruger Charger looks like it would be a load of fun with steel targets. I have a S&W M&P 15-22 and that will burn up ammo in a hurry shooting steel.

It’s about 200 yards to the pond and about 400 to the right out of the picture where I could safely shoot. It’s about 600 yards to the edge of the field however it would be shooting into the trees. Not safe.

Yes I cut down and sanded a carbine stock.
