Spring has sprung. Get out and shoot your Henry
Range report: 44mag Henry AW & Ruger SBH 10.5" 9 july 22
Range report: 44mag Henry AW & Ruger SBH 10.5" 9 july 22
Went to the range today shooting at 50m at bullsye target. Trying my homecast NOE 265gr rnfp in my Ruger, it prints high but good group with a flyer thats on me, I will change front sight to the stock one thats 2millimeters higher think it will be great. I like the recoil better than 240grain loads, need to load up some more for 100meter shooting practise for Magnumcompetition with revolver later this fall. Need some more practice
Shootingstance with revolver: on my back with support on knees
Shootingstance Henry: Offhand
Bullet cooking:
Alloy: 1part linotype lead and 2parts tinted glass leadscrap gives 14-15bhn
Lube: homemade 50/50 weightratio with molybdengrease from hardwarestore and beeswax
Bullet mould NOE .432 267gr rnfp gascheck 4cavity
Sized to .432 and seated gascheck.
Load: Vithavori N110 enough to give above 1500fps Bullet is seated deep so case is full.
Bullet its a TL design works well with traditional lube and powdercoat but I prefer the traditional look.
Perfect day at the range
44magnum pair

Nice shooting with the Ruger looks like that long barreled pistol likes that load. You must have a Ruger with throats that will accommodate that .432 casting

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Mighty fine shooting with the Ruger.
I like the look of that bullet,
bet it would be sweet in a 444 also.

Thanks.
Actually .432 is a little on the big side, 431 is the right size i can push .431 through with a little thumbpressure, Just wanted to try the load and figured a couple of drums wouldnt matter. I normally use a saeco rnfp 265gr sized to .431 with the ruger. My S&W 629-5 classic is perfect fit with .432 size. Saeco rnfp are to Long for My Henry to cycle.

Cool, would like to hear his thoughts.
Not sure what powders you have that are similar to ours.
But I cast a 320gr wfn, and with 24.0 grs of 2400 it is a hoot.
Low recoil and at 50 -75 yds. slaps my large gong pretty good.
Haven't been able to try on game, YET.

Not sure about powder similarities, I do have that Lee rnfp 310gr mold guess you can call it wfn as well.Vaquero wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 3:15 pmCool, would like to hear his thoughts.
