Some rimfire fun today.......

Post by fortyshooter » Tue Jun 28, 2022 8:07 pm

Nice day with upper 70's and low humidity and perfect time to have some fun with the Henry Evil Roy carbine and my Uberti 12 shooter.
Brought along 3 kinds of ammo....CCI 22 LR CB's.... CCI Mini Mags and something new the Norma Eco Speed no lead ammo.

The Uberti 12 shooter was acting strange,or maybe the shooter, with first two Mini Mag shots in the red area but then going right even if I added a bit of left windage. It seemed to like the Mini Mags with the Norma and CB's all over the place.

The Henry was shooting everything but the Norma ammo really well from 25 yds. That Norma stuff had some kind of clear greasy lube all over it and the rounds would stick in the cylinder of the 12 shooter. Won't try any more of that stuff!

Spent rest of the session plinking on my variety of rimfire steel targets and plate rack. The Henry is a joy levering on those!

Interesting with the Norma ammo. I just bought some of the tac 22 rounds to try in my Uberti. I will see how they act in mine

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Ordinarily the lube on rimfire ammo hasn't been a problem for me, either, BUT I have had some batches of CCI SV that were heavily over-lubed to the point where they were a problem in a revolver and lever gun I was using to shoot them, same as forty experienced. It can happen, though it is rare.

The Norma cycled fine in the Henry with no sticking issues. That Henry though was the boss on my chip rack and the critter rack!

Looks like some nice inexpensive fun there forty.
Bought quite a bit of the Norma Tac 22's a while back,
I need to see how they perform in some of the rifles and handguns around here.
