New Model Ruger Bearcat
Re: New Model Ruger Bearcat
That little Bearcat is dialed in. Nice work.
Not that it has anything to do with function but I have always thought the engraving on the cylinder makes it really stand out. Nice find.

I agree. That BC cylinder has always been distinctive. Ruger later did the cylinder engraving thing on the Bisley Single Six which came out in the mid 80s. It's not as extensive as the engraving on the BC, however. Here's my 1986 Bisley Single Six, another gun I kept and will never sell. Heavier gun than the Bearcat, of course. Feels like I'm holding a 44 mag, compared to the BC.

Congratulations on a good find and shooting. How heavy are the sub-sonic LR? I have lots of shorts of all kinds and was thinking of getting some sub LR.

Eley subsonic 22 LR, as with most subsonic 22 LR ammo, uses standard 22 LR bullets of 38 or 40 grains, in this case 38 grains. The advantage of the Eley and RWS subsonic 22 LRs I like to shoot is the awesome accuracy. Basically you get true match grade accuracy in a round you can use for recreational shooting. You'll pay more than the usual SV 22 LR ammo, though.

Thanks. I’m going to try to find a deal on some. I noticed CCI has some sub-sonic LR that is 40 grain HP. You don’t see 40 grain HP much. Most are 36 grain.North Country Gal wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 5:58 pmEley subsonic 22 LR, as with most subsonic 22 LR ammo, uses standard 22 LR bullets of 38 or 40 grains, in this case 38 grains. The Eley is great ammo for accuracy testing of your guns, but probably overkill for just plinking or steel shooting. All of our 22s, though, love it.

For plinking I sometimes grab the cheapest bulk.North Country Gal wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 6:09 pmThe Eley is great ammo for accuracy testing of your guns, but probably overkill for just plinking or steel shooting. All of our 22s, though, love it.
