Savage Predator 6.5 CM

Post by Shakey Jake » Sun May 15, 2022 2:47 pm

I took my new Savage Predator 6.5 Creedmoor to sight in this morning. I scoped it with a Crimson Trace Hardline Pro 6-24 X 50 (30 mm tube). This is the third Crimson Trace scope I have and I really like them. I think there the best scopes I have. Anyway started off at 50 yards to conserve ammo and was really surprised that the first four were close to the bullseye and grouped nicely. I moved to the 100 yard range during the cease fire and shot 6 more times. The first one went way left so I adjusted and the final two were almost on top of each other and very close the exact center. I am very pleased with the rifle and ready to try 200 yards next time out.

Yes, MOA crosshair on the one I have on this rifle. It can be illuminated but I didn't put the battery in it as I don't think I'll need it. I have the one listed on Amazon for $799.93. Luckily I caught it on sale for $548.59.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Nice combination, Savage rifle and 6.5 Creedmore. Both known for great accuracy.

Some darn nice shootin' Jake, factory or some of your's?
I picked up an Axis back in Jan. played with it a min.
I've got all the components, waiting on the farmer to cut some hay.
(clear may shootin area)

A slightly different cartridge but you might be interested in looking at this post over on the Beretta forum from a guy that converted a M1 Garand to 6.5x55.

Federal ammo 130 gr. I purchased from the LGS. I ordered the dies and now can reload the cases. It's weird that some 6.5 CM cases take large rifle primers and others small rifle primers. I did not realize that at the beginning. I guess it's sort of like 45 ACP where some cases use small pistol and others large pistol.

I tried some federal 140's but they didn't group that well. And I believe the spp is just federal.
The best factory ammo I tried was the 147gr Hornady.
I'm wanting to get back after it, but need to wait for Joe to cut his hay.
