Vaquero, was is the velocity of your loadings vs factory ? Also, have you ever tried the Speer 170gr. Hot Core bullets ? My Marlin 336 (30/30) doesn't like them, but my Henry loves them. Maybe it's MG rifling and the Henry is Ballard.
I don't own a chrony, so I haven't a clue on that. I just work up to get accuracy and never worried about the speed.
Yes the hot cores shoot just as well as the Speer. Here's a target from back in the fall before deer season.

Slugnut, I also shoot both bullets in my Marlin 308mx with very similar results.
Have taken deer with both and can't really tell any difference in performance.
I'd like to try that load of mine in a Henry, as I have 2 Marlins, and they both shoot it well.
I need to try it in the 2 Winchesters but I haven't done it for some odd reason.

Slugnut, I've chronographed my standard handload for 30-30 using Hornady 170gr FP and 33.0gr Win 748 powder. LR mag primer, CCI.
MV: 2065-2100 fps. Pretty accurate. Never have chrony'd factory stuff. Probably about the same. Rifle is a 1985 Winchester "Ranger",
which is a Mod 94 with cheaper wood. 20" barrel. That one is also staying put.
Edit: Have a Weaver K4 on it.

The cardboard target was down in Fla at a friend's place in 2018, the other was back in the Fall.

Randy, Ohh, I like my Ranger. Looks like we about the same type of furniture on ours. Darn good shooters! Aha! I see that flask there. Heh-heh!
I have some Missouri 165gr rnfp coated with 9.0gr Unique I'm still working with. Should be fun. To the 30-30's and whatever may be in that flask!

Thanks Randy for putting those up. Looks better here than on my phone. It's an '85 year, so guessing its an early AE like yours. It's a fine shooter.
Thanks again Randy for the tech help.
