Well had a full afternoon wanting to try out the 1873 Uberti/Winchester 44 Mag carbine along with the .44 Special Navy Open Top and some shots with my Heritage 22 revolver project....Blackjack.
Ammo for the carbine was all .44 Special since I don't have any RNFP loads in 44 Mag. The Winchester does not like semi-wadcutters as far as cycling and when I tried a couple in 44 Special 240 gr. MB Bullet they didn't shoot as well as the RNFP. Looks the is going to be the 200 gr. RNFP with Red Dot which the Navy Open Rop likes as well. The 200 gr. bullets shot today were either the plated Xtremes or the cast lead RNFP from Matts and they shoot really well.
Also the little 22 Blackjack revolver shot very well with my new front sight on it and it really liked the CCI 22 LR Quiets with the 22 Mag ammo shooting all over the place as you can see. The typical 22 LR Federal ammo shot well to all from 7 yds.

So looks like the 1873 Winchester in 44 caliber was a great early Christmas present and along with my Navy 44 Open Top revolver will make a very nice shooting combo for 44 Special!

Fine looking firearms there forty. Liking the Red Dot load in the .44 Uberti/Winchester. A good range day indeed!

Thanks Tom ! I was shooting from a standing position and had some slight movement going on while trying to keep it steady. But seems the Red Dot always gives a tighter group of shots. Only had to adjust the elevation one click on the 1873. Now to order some 200 gr. RNFP bullets since I am just about out.

1873's are beautiful rifles, and yours is no exception! Obviously a great shooter in your hands as well.

Yep...lowered his ears a bit! Amazing what the difference was going from the 22 Magnums to the 22 LR Quiets on the target.

Well usually it is cold here in December but enjoying a several 60-70 degree days lately.

We had two days of 50-60 degree days a couple days ago. Now it is cold and very rainy. Enjoy while you can.
