Turkey hunt with Marlin 1895 .45-70

Blew the dust off my 1895 Guide Gun grabbed my 405 gr. rounds with 13 gr. Unique and headed to the range for a little turkey fun in the woods.
Setup a target board and went back to my 45-50 yd. point and took 5 shots which is 4 in the tube and then shove one in the chamber.
Had not shot it in a while and was expecting it to shoot high but was surprised with several good hits! Then shot a few steel targets and then down into the woods on a steel turkey hunt. Found one hiding behind a big ol' pumpkin and took a shot or two!

Had a great time hitting most anything that was a target as the Marlin and the shooter today were dialed in. The 13 gr. Unique load is pleasant to shoot for a .45-70 and is still a 405 gr. piece of lead moving 1150 FPS !

The Remlin made Marlins get a bad rap due to QC and fit finish but I have had no issues with this one so far in 7 years. Even the forward grip stays tight after shooting hotter .45-70 rounds unlike another brand. That Unique load you can shoot all day if you want to.
