I went to the grasslands today to try out my new 10/22 target. It has the hammer forged barrel and laminate stock. I really like the looks of the hammer forged barrels and this one shoots pretty darn good. Its not as good as the CZ's but hard to compare a semi auto to a bolt gun and BigAl to NCG and Bandit. I put a one piece scope mount with rings on it called a game reaper. I like the looks of them and its a medium height mount. Its perfect for the scope I used which is a Burris 3x9x40 drop tine rimfire scope. Real nice scope for the money. Here is a target I shot with several different kinds of ammo This gun shoots all of it pretty darn good in my opinion.

At the bottom dot or 6 oclock position is CCI Velociter
At the 9 oclock position is CCI mini mag 36 gr hp
At the 12 oclock position is CCI Minimag 40 gr
At the 3 oclock position is Federal 36 hp
Center is another group of the 40 grain CCI

These were all 5 shot groups. I sighted it in with some Remington Golden bullets and they shot very well also. I had some Aguila ammo there that also shot very well. I didnt shoot it on target. This was all done at 50 yards with a slight breeze behind me. After I got done with the paper shoot I gathered up some empty shotgun shells out there which there is no shortage of. Shooting those is fun and I was able hit them regular off of the bench. Ive owned 10/22's before and done the entire hot rod thing with one before. I wish I would have kept it because it shot very good. I like this one it will stay around.

I picked up one of those about 18 months ago (I think). It's a stainless barrel with the charcoal laminate. Got a Kidd trigger group and buffer along with a steel guide rod. Snagged a vortex something or other with an adjustable objective. 4X12. One of my daughter's favorite rifles (actually it is her favorite). She shoots it better than I do.

But they sure are hard to find these days (and expensive when you do). I lucked out and found one on CDNNsports.com at like a retail price. Heavy critters, these Ruger Targets. But they shoot fine and sure are purty.

Got a friend who asks me to sell it to him every time I see him. I remind him that when I got mine I let him know there was a deal on them. Then he shot it and is kicking himself.

By the way - excellent shooting!!

I just ordered the Tandemcross mag release upgrade that allows for the bolt release with one hand rather than fighting the lever down by the trigger guard. Mine is really finicky.

There are no fewer than one billion, nine hundred forty two million, three hundred sixty seven thousand and eight after market parts for a Ruger 10/22. Kinda fun messing around with them.

I owned a Ruger 10-22 back in the late 70s, that was a tack driver for sure. When I left for A School after my wedding, I locked it in the trunk of my Firebird in a gun case for safe keeping as my wife was going to school and we didn't have our own place yet. She decided to let her brothers take it out and shoot it while I was gone and they mislaid the case, so they wrapped it in a wool blanket and stuck it back in the trunk without cleaning it. There it lay for six months until I came home on orders for North Carolina. The rifle was a huge rusted lump. She said, "Well, Sooorrrry. You weren't here and they asked." Needless to say, that marriage didn't last. No, they didn't offer to replace it, they were high school kids.

Great shooting and great looking rifle. I actually went looking for one just like it when I bought the CZ455. My dealer was sold out of Ruger 22s, all of them. He recommended the 455 and mounted a Nikon Scope on it. It's deadly on Squirrels.

That's a good looking 10-22 there Al. Nothing fancy, just well put together with the right pieces. Good shooting to boot. A win!

Great shooting Al and those sure are nice looking rifles with the hammer forged barrels and laminated stack. If that shooting is with the factory trigger that’s pretty impressive.
