3 pistol shoot today........

Have been neglecting my 3 semi-auto pistols lately so off to the range we went! Pistols being the Springfield XDE 45.... the Ruger 1911 Cmd 45 and the Glock 23 40 SW. Shot each one on the paper plate targets set at about 10 yds. and then on to the steel targets. Ammo for the 45's was Speer Lawman 230 gr. FMJ factory ammo and Federal 180 gr. FMJ for the Glock 23. No feeding issues or functioning problems with any of the pistols and not to bad on the target shots. That XDE likes to group well in clusters!
Only oddity is the sometime double tap fire I get with my Ruger 1911 and it has done this since new. When firing a multi shot string even with two hand grip I will get another shot to go off before I am ready for it almost like a bump fire. The trigger is light on this 1911 so it could be I'm not fully releasing the trigger all the way or something else. Never have this on the Springfield which is also a hammer fire gun.

Anyway it was fun to get them out for some action. The XDE is one of my carry guns.

If I were you I'd call Ruger and have them look at that commander. Not a good thing having and unexpected double tap. That could be dangerous and wind up with the gun going full auto.

I did a search for this issue with various brands of 1911 and it is not that uncommon if there are issues with the trigger sear or spring.
Will give Ruger a call and send it in for a check out. Had to return it some years ago for a front sight repair when it broke off after about 800 rounds.

I loooove my Ruger 1911 CMD. Had one double tap once. But I think mine was me hanging on the trigger near the reset. Interestingly enough both shots hit the plate I was shooting at. That aside - the thing sits quite nicely in the hand and is pretty smooth out of the box. By the looks of your target you get along pretty well with yours!!

Good shooting!

Yeah the Ruger is a very nice shooting pistol and it could well be me not letting the trigger move all the way forward. I have a friend who has one also and maybe we will switch pistols and see if he has same issue.
