Nice day to shoot some steel so once again took the new Cimarron 44 special OT back to the range. Wanted to try it out with the rear sight mod I made and also try a new load combo. Started out with the MB 240 gr. SWC with 5.0 Red dot I had shot before and then on to the Matt's Bullets 245 gr.
RNFP made of a softer 11 Bhn lead uncoated with same 5.0 Red Dot powder. Shot a couple of mild 240 XTP loads 5 gr. Red Dot to clean out any coating residue from the MB rounds before shooting the Matt bullet load. Then after about 12 rounds of that check the bore for any leading.

Now opening up the rear sight did help with seeing the front sight and getting on target better and had an easier time with shooting the steel.
Some days I do better at hitting objects better than punching holes in paper and this was one of those but didn't do too bad.
Had a good bit of steel set up and it was a fun time! Watch here https://youtu.be/pUw96akDTFY
After shooting the last 12 rounds which were the softer 245 gr. lead bullets I did a bore check and was very happy to see a clean bore!
Those bullets looked to hit at point of aim in elevation too. Will load more of those with that 5 gr. of Red Dot and this will be the load for this revolver!

Really like shooting this old time revolver!

Wonder if I'll ever see that .44 Special case I dropped again?

Don't think a cap& ball cylinder would fit in this one but would be cool to check it out. Taylors& Co. would know. I have the 1858 Remington that does that though. Yeah hitting the steel was much better this time around!
