Testing a couple loads in the Cowboy, a 255 gr fn. From Bear Creek Supply.

With rel 7 I tried 2 different seating depths and with the 2400 just stuck with the longer length. They all cycled good, in between I shot a couple 35 Rem.
Each of those I would aim at the lower logos.

Looks good Randy. I dont have my book right here and I know you are using the longer brass. What do they show max charge of RL7 being.

I have no idea Al, as I went off your recommendation.
I just checked 3 manuals and none list rl7 and a 255 gr cast.

Definitely a different class of deck gun than my airguns.

That's a fine Marlin CB, very impressive.

Nice comfy shooting chair Randy! Was the target distance 50 yds ? Interesting in first picture one load went right and the other left.
I was shooting the Henry off the deck too but it's a long 30 mile hike from my back door!

Thanks Forty, that's the chair that sits at the loading desk. I just wheeled right out the back door.

it's only a few feet.

And yes just 50 yds. back to that dirt pile, have a couple gongs set back there and a target board.
Here's the trio, had a hard time getting it to load, but finally.

Lyman book shows 27.5 max with a 255 jacket bullet. So theres room to play there if you wanna try pushing it a little more.

I may try bumping up a couple grs. or so and see.
26.2 and 26.4 and see what it does.
Going to try some 4198 also, I like it quite a bit and have 6+ lbs of it laying around.

My Henry liked 27 grains with a little heavier bullet. Believe it was the Lyman Bullet with a GC from Montana Cast. Think it was around 260+. There again I was also using the short brass
