Marlin Model 60 Scope sight in

I took the Marlin Model 60 back out today along with my 357 Single shot. We went to the grasslands where we encountered some rain and a little wind. It was surprisingly still green out there with some good grass around. So I got the gun out and started with some Remington gold coated 40 gr bullets. I sighted the gun in with those at the big red dot at the center of the target. Target was at 30 yards and I was shooting off the roof of my car resting the gun on a shirt coat. I left the scope alone after walking the shots down to the top of the red dot. Then I brought some CCI 40 mini mags. Those are shot at the small red dot to the left. There is 10 rounds in that hole. The target at the right is CCI mini mag 36grhp. There is 10 there also. The dot at the bottom is some Aguila 40gr and there is 10 there. This little Marlin 60 shoots pretty good I think and I think I am going to leave it alone in the scope adjustment dept. I also shot my buffalo gong today with the 357 Single Shot. When you hit that with a pugnose 180 you know it. Those pugnose bullets hit hard. We shot the buff at 50 yards also. Ive got to say I enjoy my single shot and it is as fun to shoot as any of my levers. Forty. I havent forgot about the test for the sight insert but it started raining and got windy so I will try again soon.

Good shooting Al, I'm looking for a straight 4x scope for mine.
Those pugnose sure smack the gongs well especially at just 50yds.
I shot my thick 10" at a 100, and it still swings the heck out of it.

Excellent work, Al. I'm not surprised how great those 40 grain Mini mags shoot. In most of our guns, the 40 grain solids outshoot the 37 grain HPs, but theat HP group is also very good.

Excellent shooting Al! Your 60 seems dialed pretty good. And you're right; those 180's are some hard hitters. If you can, where in the grasslands are you shooting? Thanks.

Tom north of Greeley on Hwy 85 is a town called Pierce. I go east of Pierce on CR 90. Then north at a real small town of Purcell. Pawnee Grasslands. If you zoom in on google maps you will see it.

Those Marlin 60’s just shoot. Inexpensive plain Jane rifle but a tack driver. I have had a few in my days including the Glenfield “Squirrel” gun and they all have been super accurate. Nice you found some green to shoot across, all our DNR lands we can shoot on are closed due to fire danger. I can still go to the private range I’m a member of so I’m good there.

Nice shooting.

Found it on my Colorado map. Looks like a nice drive and area to shoot. Good find.
