Black Powder Fun....1800 style

Post by RanchRoper » Sun Jun 06, 2021 4:07 pm

Just shooting a little contest target for another forum. Must be only 6 shotS, 2 per bottle at 25 yds off hand. Nice day, 60F and a little windy. But got 'er done, not bad considering my eyes turn 64 next week. Must be from watching Bugs Bunny eat all those carrots when I was a kid.

Frontier .50 cal
50 grains Triple 7 powder
.490 lead ball
.015 patch

Great fun but a tough target!!

A young lady RCMP officer was at the range doing her annual re-cert. She got to shoot the muzzleloader. First time black powder shooter. Loved it! Another one converted !! :)

Good deal we need more BP shooters for sure. I know lately for me I have no interest in my other guns at all. Except for 22 because I dont need to reload or pick up the brass.

Ya I need to shoot my Henry sometime before I forget how it works....

I had an old knife sheath that had a belt loop on it, I cut it down and made a belt through slot so I can carry my regular knife cross draw instead of hanging straight down. Much more comfortable because now it does not move around. Tucked in nice.
