Range fun with the Henry Evil Roy carbine......
Well rain was in forecast for this afternoon so got on down to the range this morning to try out this new Evil Roy .22 carbine. Also brought along my Uberti Cattleman 12 shooter which makes for a nice combo.
First I put up a target to see where the first shots would hit since I replaced the rear sight insert with one of my ghost ring inserts.
Well from about 20 yds. standing that thing was planting them in the red zone with 7 of them in ragged holes! No adjustment needed.
Ammo was the Federal Auto Match target grade 40 gr. Shoot a couple of the CCI Quiets and the POI was the same.
So on to shooting the collection of steel targets placed along the dirt berm area. That's where the real fun of rimfire comes to life....simple pleasure!
Was also trying out a new plate type target setup I put together for rimfire use.... the Chip Rack which handled the hits well.

The Evil Roy functioned fine with various ammo...Federal Auto Match, CCI Quiets and Remington Thunderbolts even though some of those sounded like a Quiet round....poor QC!
Later was hitting the swinging plates in other target area from 35 yds. and went back to the 50 yd. line to hit some of those targets on the berm.
Result is that the Evil Roy is a great handling little shooter that ran fine all morning. The lever action is very smooth and needs nothing. Happy that I picked this one for my .22 lever rifle!

impressive accuracy after installing the ghost ring .... the signature on your rifle's stock is much less noticeable than on some others I've seen .... it appears you have an excellent rifle

I've always thought the evil roy was a fabulous gun.... everyone is different what they like or don't like, everyone has their own quirks, one of mine is that the words "evil Roy" scrawled on a otherwise beautiful stock just ruins it for me... a shame. Cause they are nice rifles...... however , they are a popular rifle so I would say many people don't mind and are not put off that feature. that's what makes the world go around.......

Good video, nice rifle, fun morning. I miss my VA range.
Hopefully, I will get the hand healed and get the berm done here in OK so I can start shooting again. Until then... Keep posting forty.

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

Love your Evil Roy, makes me want to take mine and go to range but alas I bought the .22 mag I never thought about stockpiling ammo as I did with .22lr and .17 HMR. So unless I want to come out of retirement and get get a job I’ll have to wait and find a deal on .22 mag ammo

I’m thinking that I will go back to the LGS where I saw an Evil Roy a couple of weeks ago. Is the silver finish standard on the ER’s? I don’t remember if the one I saw was all blue or finished like yours. I remember that when I picked it up the first thing I looked for was the signature on the stock after reading comments about it here on HRF. I thought the sig wasn’t too bad, I expected it to be more “out there” than it was.
