Range Report

Post by T56Impala » Sun Feb 28, 2021 2:12 pm

Sunday 2/28

Indoor range at 25 yards. Keep in mind that this is my first time firing this gun. First time shooting a lever action. First time shooting a rifle in 45 LC.

250gr Georgia Arms “ Cowboy” loads. Iron sights. Approximately 850fps

6” grouping with 16 rounds. High and right but consistent. Absolute pleasure to shoot! No malfunctions, no issues.

265gr JHP +P loads. Iron sites. Approximately 1600fps.

4” group with 8 rounds. Windage centered but slightly high. (8 ring) Considerably more felt recoil. Again, a pleasure to shoot. No malfunctions, no issues.

Due to ammo restrictions (cost) I switched to my 10/22. Spent the rest of the time putting holes in holes at 25 yards. A massive scope helps in that respect! Fired the shotgun a few times. Not happy with it at all. (Silver Eagle) Refused to feed even the first round from the 10 round mag. With the 5 rounders, dead center at 25 yards with iron sights. Can’t wait to get my Mossberg back up and running. Far superior firearm.

Great fun shooting the lever rifles as you have discovered! Beware you can't settle for just one around this place!

Yep, those .45 Colts are a fun round to shoot. Thru a rifle or single action revolver, loads of fun.

Sounds as if you had a good outing, glad to see there were no issues with the new firearm.
The 45 colt is a fun round, next you'll be looking for one of the 357's, another very fun gun. :o
