I shot my Avanti benchrest at 23 yards and 10 meters kneeling.

I always thought this was an 853 however this is what is on the rifle.

This is the ammo.

First I shot at 23 yards with the heavier pellet. The rifle is zeroed for 10 meters so would be expected to shoot low at 23 yards. I didn’t feel I was shooting as bad as my target indicated. The last low round is when I stopped. I knew that wasn’t me.

This was with the wadcutters at 10 meters. I called the point of impact of each round so the spread is all me.

It was 35 degrees and not raining however the relative humidity was around 95%. No wind.

I ran a few felts through the rifle pushed by wadcutter. Then shot a better pellet.

Then I added spacers to increase the length of pull.

Then I shot again. Not only did my group size improve I also started to get better sub-groups. Then I went wide left by pulling it.

Single pump pneumatic. I think I may start practicing three position.

Round three. It’s 37 degrees and while not really cold it is chilly. I like this backyard stuff as I’m able to go inside to warm up and post in between rounds.
This time I shot prone at 10 meters.

I need more practice. I was fumbling loading in the prone position. It takes time to get back into position and I was rushing it. Don’t know what that partial shot was. I only made five shots.

Standing offhand. Hey if you average the hits I hit the 10-ring.

Gene, thanks for the wonderful airgun report. I'm very familiar with the Daisy 853. It's a very popular rifle for 10 meter work. Closest thing I've had to it is the Daisy 953, which is the cheap budget version. Cost us all of $80 and shoots like a champ.
I know how hard it is to score a 10 with those 10 meter airguns targets. That 10 ring really is no bigger than a 177 cal pellet. I always feel good just getting 5 shots in the black when shooting without a rest from a standing position, even with my high grade airguns. Anyone who thinks it's easy to get a high score at 10 meters from any shooting position with these targets hasn't tried it. Good for you. Go for it.

Thanks Joanie. I was reading how they score the targets. I’m used to just touching the line and you get the higher score. Apparently in three position the hole needs to be completely inside the ring although some will score it in tenths like 8.1 instead of 9 if it barely touches the 9 ring. It would be 8.2 if more was in the higher ring and goes all the way to 8.9.
I like the pump-ups because they don’t have recoil like my other springers.
I can’t wait for my 2300S to get here. I’m hoping I can shoot it in the cold weather for ten minutes before the rifle gets cold and starts to loose velocity.
As my home remodel projects gets completed I’m hoping to shoot more in my back yard. Today was forecast to be wet and I would not have chanced going to the range. As it turned out it didn’t rain and the sun was trying to shine with afternoon temperatures in the high 40’s.

Even the 9 ring is almost as large as the pellet and the ten is just a dot the size of tip of an ink pen.

I see one problem on the range no coffee cup or those targets would be tighter yet.
