It's pretty much the norm that other shooters have guns that I admire and would like to own some day.
Today, though, was the worst. I contracted a very serious case of envy when a nice young fellow cracked open a rifle case and brought out his new-to-him M1 Garand that he had just received from the CMP. He won the Garand lottery and received a really nice one.
He is an army vet, and it was really nice to see that they still know how to teach soldiers how to shoot. He put a few shots on paper from a bench at 25 yards, and then went to the kneeling position and hit a 100 yard swinger several times. When the clip "pinged" out of the rifle after the last round was fired, I was a basket case. I need a Garand.
Happy New Year All!

That "ping" is a beautiful sound, isn't it.

How cool that an Army Vet won the M1 Garand from that lottery.
Good for him!

Well, actually he bought it from the CMP. Unless you drive down to Alabama to pick one out, you get what they send you. The one he got is a beauty.PT7 wrote:How cool that an Army Vet won the M1 Garand from that lottery.![]()

I'm with you, ditto. Would love to have an M-1 Garand and an M-1 carbine.
My dad and my father-in-law carried those in WWII and Korea and while I have a Chiappa M-1 carbine in 9mm, it's just not the same as having the real thing.
