Not sure. 30 inch barrel. Plus an extra few inches to the rear tang. Will check it.

What yardage or click was your tang sight set at for the 200 yd. shots? I would expect that there would be a good bit of drop with the .45 Colt at that distance.

RR if you have a good gunsmith up there and the extraction issue continues Im betting he would be able to give you some suggestions or help. Id at least give that a try.

Maybe a polish job for the chamber.

Beats me. I just turned it up a bit after shooting the 100 yd.

They asked Paul McCartney one time what kind of bass strings he used to get that unique sound. He said long shiny ones.

That’s pretty much me with shooting.

Here is what the ejector looks like on my 45-70 High Wall. First picture is the closed position when round is chambered and last picture when lever is down and case ejected. It appears to work on a linkage tied to the lever and with no spring tension and only moves back about 1/8th inch or so...just enough to break the tapered .45-70 case from the chamber. When the breech block goes down the ejector slides back. You then have to pull it out with your finger.
Now don't know if the ejector on the straight wall case .45 Colt High Wall works the same with same travel? But if it does I can see where there might be an issue with that small amount of travel if the case expands to a tight fit or if blow by build up in chamber tightens up the case.
I don't think at standard Colt .45 load levels there is enough pressure to fully expand case to chamber so it might just be a carbon build up problem in the chamber.
I wonder if a light dry coat of sizing lube on the ammo before loading would help or maybe a spray of dry graphite spray? Give it a try RR!

Note I see in my close up shot I need to do a better cleaning of my case head area of chamber!

Here you go RR. Seems to be a common problem with sticking cases....

Yup. Same design on mine. Carbon for sure. Clean cases pop out no issue.

Oh well, have dowel rod will travel. If I want to shoot 50 round in 20 minutes will take the Henry.

Now, that is an anomaly in design. I think. But, looking at that link forty put up, it seems to be a "normal" deal with the .45 Colt highwall. Well.....
Also in that link, one poster mentions that 1:18 twist isn't good for the .45 Colt round, 1:38 is much preferred. My Henry BB steel .45 Colt is 1:16 and it shoots lights out. Another well...... RR, I'm thinking you'll be fine. Just take that dowel. I think I need a Bloody Mary.

RR, you mentioned in another thread that you're crimping your cartridges with the seating die instead of the Lee FCD. It might not matter, but you could try adjusting the seating die to disable the crimp function and set your FCD to apply a medium or strong crimp to see if there is less powder/soot blow back. Just a thought.

I've always used the FCD to crimp just because the thought of crimping a moving bullet didn't appeal to me; even though lots of folks do it without any issues.
