RifleTom sent along these two pics and asked me to post them for the sake of the scope conversation. I believe he told me this is a Weaver 1-3X (by 24, I'm guessing). Nice look/proportion on the Big Boy Brass .357 Henry!

Thanks ES', appreciate the assistance as I seem to be photo post challenged. Yes, scope is a Weaver1-3, base is the Talley integral mount/rings from the Henry shop. With my 67 year old eyes, I need the scope. Factory or handloads work very well thru that rifle. Snooping around for another lever gun currently. Another .357, maybe a .44 or .45 Colt? Could I possibly need another 30-30? Hmm. I think a low power variable like ES' or mine really fill the bill on these slick lever guns.

Something Color Case Hardened would be good. A new caliber maybe?

I am kinda leaning towards a .45 Colt. BB Steel, 20" barrel. This one would remain scopeless. Hmm.

nice looking combo .... what (if any) impact does adding the scope make in the carbine's balance

I'll add that scoping my BB Brass with a scope didn't mess with balance. Just added a wee bit more weight. But, mine will not be for hunting, strictly a range/desert rifle. My big game hunting days are done. Now, upland birds, well......

while I still have hope that sometime down the line I might be able to get back into the woods hunting for deer, bear, and/or boar, the reality is the odds of being able to do so are pretty small .... now days my shooting punching holes is paper, ringing gongs, and breaking skeet setup at various ranges ....

No Mags, still brand new. I'm sure it will change in time . Will need to find a thread on keeping it shiny and the best products.

There are threads here for that. My opinion Renaissance Wax is the best. Especially for brass and wood.

Thanks mate, will look though these as I better get onto it. You certainly don't want to get copper remover on the receiver as it dulls it quickly.

Another fun day at the range, still making heaps of copper but I think it's easing and it definitely doesn't affect accuracy. The groups are tightening up also. Heres some 55, 82 and 100y groups.

Pretty happy with the results.

That is some good shooting 'speedy! The furthest I've shot my BB Brass[20" barrel] is 50 and 75 yds. And it pretty much mirrors what you're doing. These are great rifles. Enjoy that one, but, I suspect you may be buying another. These are addicting.

Doesn't look like it is effecting accuracy much if at all, are they the hollow point or flat point XTP? For some reason the HP version has always shot a bit better than the FP version for me.
The Speer GDHP has been the most accurate 158gr I have tried.

Hi 220, yes they are the HP versions. Yes I'm pretty confident it's not affecting accuracy. It's just the clean up I'm struggling with at the moment. I'm still working on an active process of polishing the barrel carefully. I'm still holding high hopes I can achieve a point where it doesn't collect too much copper. I'd like to hear from any other dudes with .357's on how their copper is playing out if at all?

I must have posted that whilst under the influence of something or other. I could have sworn you had the Aussie flag up, and I know the difference. Aussie also has white stars vs NZs red ones. Weird...
