Neat idea, I have the property to do the same kind of thing. Might have to think about that. Just with the Red Ryder though; my neighbors in the hills behind our place might not appreciate me running around shooting the 45 Colt all over the place.

RR, i know my neighbors are a lot closer than yours. While I would never shoot a centerfire out here, I shoot .22s all the time, including about 50 shots today. 90% of it are CCI quiet/standard, though I do shoot a little HV and even an occasional WMR/WRF.

Get yourself at least a classic, I promise you will not be disappointed.

I hear ya (pun intended). That .22 Frontier octagon looked pretty sharp.

That's a pretty cool setup to have in your back yard. I really want to do something similar here for pellet gun. I have a ok setup for Archery.

I'm very fortunate to have a full 50 yard air gun range on our property. Each station at 10, 25, 35 and 50 yards has a pellet trap for bullseye work and a selection of spinner targets.

Sure thing. The rifle is one of three HW (Weihrauch) under-lever spring piston rifles we own. It's in 177. It's a standard HW97K. It's heavy, as all these types of rifles are, but it's right at my weight limit as to what I can use for offhand work and, even then, I do have go slow and rest as needed when shooting groups. Balances, well, though, for that kind of shooting. Has just enough muzzle weight to be steady, but not so much as to be too tiring. Also have the HW77K, the iron sight version and the Blue Laminate HW97K which is too heavy for offhand work, but excellent for bench work.

The range has shooting stations setup at 10 meters, 25 yards, 35 yard and 50 yards. Each station has a bullet trap(s) to hold paper targets and also a variety of metal spinner targets and reactive targets. At the shooting end, we have two excellent shooting benches built by my hubby. Bill keeps a path open to the benches for me with the snowblower.


Had a record wet summer, so not a lot of traipsing out to set up paper targets, mostly just shot metal targets. Normal years, I shoot more paper than metal. I'm an accuracy junkie.


Do shoot year round, too.


Air guns are a big hit with the grandkids when they come for a visit. First thing they want to do.

Here's the Blue Laminate version of the HW97K which is one of my most consistent 50 yard shooters off the bench.


Best ever 5 shot group with Blue. Very few and far between with these, though. Moon, stars and planets have to be in perfect alignment. Half inch to one inch at 50 yards is more the norm.
