Those are some wall hanger targets for sure, RR. Very impressive for both the rifle and the shooter. Looks like you and that rifle are a perfect match.

Hey, I haven't seen a pic of the rifle, yet. Tang, as in tang peep, right? If so, having that peep close to your eye via a tang mount or a competition target peep is the best way to access the potential sharpening effect that a peep sight offers. Also ranks high on the traditional cool factor for me.

I left the buckhorn sight on too. Gives me options.

the only rifle I own with a peep sight is my grandfather's Model 12 22LR Remington Pump with octagonal barrel ... the peep is a flip up that is mounted on the tang .... when the peep is up the ling of sight passes through the V-notch sight .... with 3 aim points, its very easy to get it on target and is extremely accurate

Ok. Clean clean clean. After 4 cleanings the Hoppes just would not produce a clean patch. Scrubbed with copper brush. Scrubbed with bore mop. Many patches through. Still got crud. So finally soaked bore with REM action cleaner which is a degreaser. Let it soak. After that brush mop and patches. More crap came out! Finally got clean patches after awhile and lubed it up.

Was any leading in the barrel? I would think any packing/shipping crud left after first cleaning would be gone after firing those rounds.

With any new to me gun I get I clean the barrel with Brake Clean type solvent to remove dirt and any oils. Then a final mop down with Ballistol to condition the bore.

Overall on a scale of 1-10 I am about an 8 on this rifle so far. Only because of the extractor issue, nothing else. It is one beautiful rifle and shoots very well. I bought a wooden dowel today to use instead of brass rod that came with it, even though brass I don't like it clunking around in the barrel. Hopefully the extraction issue gets better but if it doesn't....oh well, it won't keep me from shooting as much as I like to. So expect more range reports from 'ol 1885.

What is the sight radius on it? The rifle sure seems to like your aiming and trigger control.

I would have trouble seeing the target at 200 let alone hit it.
