50 yrds. with the Henry Steel

Post by .45Steel » Tue May 24, 2016 8:45 pm

I finally got out back with the Henry Steel .45 Colt tonight. I had to open the pool after work, so I didn't bother to take time setting up the chrony or even grabbing the sandbags after supper. These shots are from the bench with just a rest under the front of the rifle. Orange dots are the small 1" ones. The dot fell off with the 5.6 grs. of Unique, but the one shot was dead nuts center just to the left of the 5. All groups are 5 shots each. I should have taken the time to get the sandbags out for this session. I did take the time to grab a cold Bud though. I really like this rifle. I'm gonna stretch it out to 75 yrds. next time with these loads, but first I have some with Red Dot, and then some 252 swc with A#5 to try. All my shooting is with my own bullets cast with cowws and lubed with BLL. I might add...no leading in the barrel with any of these loads as they are on the mild side and taken from Lymans 4th edition. Sure wished I had more time to shoot it but life goes on. Happy Shooting and be safe. G.

Looks to be doing quite well with your loads. The fun is getting to try the different loads. Gives you more trigger time.

You'd take home the 7' stuffed TeleTubbie at the county fair with shootin' like that. Nice!

:o some nice shooting there.
Heck at 50 yds. I can't even see those small dots with these old eyes without a scope.

Very nice. I'm personally liking loading light loads of Unique for my 44 BB and 45/70. it doesn't meter great out of my powder dispenser but I just check it with a scale.

Ha...neither could I, that's why I put a scope on her. It sucks to have old eyes.

Lol, I thought maybe you were one of the young guns.
I don't want to scope my bbs, I've got others so for now I'm not.
That's still some good shooting.
