DA revolver fun with the Dan

Post by North Country Gal » Mon May 20, 2019 8:30 pm

Wouldn't want anyone to think I'm some kind of single action revolver purist, so to add a little variety to my shooting, this week, we made a short trip to the range to shoot our favorite DA revolvers, Bill with his trusty S&W 617 22 LR and me with my vintage 1979 Dan Wesson 15-2 357 revolver.

This vintage DW 357 and my other current production 715 DW 357 have pretty much put the skids on me buying S&W 357 revolvers. Nothing wrong with S&W 357s, of course, but no getting by the fact that I shoot these DW 357s better than any S&W 357 revolvers I've owned. Just the way it is.

Started off with the DAN in DA mode to warm up. Pulled the first one, low, but then hunkered down and concentrated to do the revolver justice.

Moved out to 25 yards, my usual distance for offhand work. Shot several groups, managing to keep all but a couple shots in the 4" black bulls I was using, but this one was my best.

And, of course, out to 50 yards.

Overall, very pleased with this Dan. Not my best ever work with this gun, but certainly good enough to maintain my high regard for this fine 357 DA revolver.

Okay, next time out, going to go all modern with some semi-auto pistol work.

You are very welcome. Can't wait to see what I know you'll do with that Remington conversion.

Love those DW revolters. Had one in a 41 should never sold it. RR take the daisy with the 5.5 barrel for something different. Nice shooting as always NCG.

Those 50 yd pistol targets you post are impressive indeed. That's Wild Bill Hickock territory.
