First shots through my .44 Henry Carbine!

Post by fortyshooter » Tue Dec 25, 2018 12:31 pm

Got this nice looking and shooting Henry for Christmas and it's a keeper!
Goes very well with my Ruger SBH .44 Mag SA revolver.

I did modify the rear buck horn sight after this video and I can get a better sight picture now.

I removed the rear sight insert, flipped it around and machined a .136 wide "U" slot.

This did two things... it let me lower the sight picture since it was shooting high with rear sight in lowest notch.
Also it opens up the area around the front bead much like a ghost ring sight does. I just place the front bead in center of U diameter and place
the target on top of bead.

Also is the last target I shot 2nd group centered up bit better and from 35 yds. shooting my 240 gr. Missouri Bullet loads over 9-9.5 Unique.

Thanks for the info, interesting.
I like it, I have a scope on the 41, but I may try that on the BBB 44.
