Early Spring range trip with 45 Colt Henry carbine and company

Post by fortyshooter » Tue Mar 03, 2026 9:49 am

Well took a well needed break along with a great break in the weather to take my Henry 45 Colt carbine down to my Bullseye Saloon. Brought along my pair of 45 Colt backup buddies too...the EL MALO twins in case of trouble at the Saloon as it has been 2 months since last trip! :D
Love this older tube loading Henry with it's short 16.5 inch octagonal barrel...the nice looking CC finish and it just cycles like slick glass and shoots really well! Now it has been a while since I pulled a revolver trigger and for some reason I shot the steel better with my righthand vs. my left and I am a Lefty but that soon cleared up. Was GREAT medicine to get out there again and also walk the trail to the creek!.

That Rossi looks nice! Yeah I enjoyed a good time and didn't take to long to get back in the groove!

Thank you, I could see some of that figuring under the stain that was original. I stripped and then applied several coats of Lin seed oil. Looks much better than originally in my book.

Glad you enjoyed it Hatch! Gonna feel more like summer around here next couple days with highs near 80 and I have another trip coming up Friday.

Those are some sweet looking .45s in this thread, and a pretty nice looking place to shoot them too.

I liked, commented, and subscribed to your video too Forty, hope it helps your algorithm.
