Single Action Fun

Post by BrokenolMarine » Wed Nov 19, 2025 10:12 am

I decided this week to shoot some of the Single Actions. First up early in the week was the Ruger Blackhawk 357. This is a short barreled version and loads of fun. I mentioned on Forty's post that I had shot Steel, and didn't really have much to post about, so it didn't GET a thread.... but here she is in all HER glory. She is short, but cute.

Yesterday I pulled out a shiny Ruger Super Blackhawk in 45 Long Colt. This one in Stainless, with Light Grips. She is a super model and knows it. Purty.

I set up a target this time, to the right of the B27 Steel. I wanted to see if I could get Purty to perform.

I dressed the normal bottle target so I had more than center mass at which to shoot. Buttons and the heart. He grinned at me.

I started at seven yards with heart shots. Twelve rounds down range. Purty is a shooter. Better than I, I pulled a couple out a bit.

Back at 15 yards, I went to the head. I pulled a few of them, but I knew where they all went. Yup, she's a shooter.

There are more Single Actions in there, I need to pull some long guns as well. But my Girl didn't let me down.

I have the Blackhawk in 45 Colt and it a convertible. So if I don't have any 45 Colt loaded I just grab the 45 ACP cylinder (45 ACP is always ready in my ammo locker) and I'm good to go. The Blackhawk is my favorite single action firearms. It just feels right in my hand.

I also have the second cylinder for the 45LC. I have a 9mm cylinder for the 357.
