Echelon on the New Pistol Range

Post by BrokenolMarine » Sun Oct 05, 2025 5:21 pm

First gun to be shot on the new range is the Springfield Armory Echelon. It's a new addition to the safe, and I have just fired it the one time to get the optics sighted in. Optics on the handgun are new to me and I NEED practice. I am a fan of the iron sights, but my old eyes aren't. I loaded the five mags that came with the Springfield Gear Up package, ten rounds each, and headed down. The Gear Up also gave me a NICE carrying case to transport the gun and mags the 300 yards to the range.

Open up the bag and you find the mags and the Echelon ready to go. I have to say that the gun came from the factory with a nice trigger, and if I do my part, I should be able to put some rounds on target. I have to remember to roll the muzzle down just a hair to get the dot on target. Eventually the muscle memory will put it there. I'll keep working it, and get it.

I fired the fifty rounds, and I know y'all can count. You won't find them all. there were some close to the plates that didn't hit, but I was eventually able to start dialing in and getting consistent hits. Same with the Iron Lady. The last ten rounds were fired at her head, not a bad group for offhand at twenty yards. I love the gun, I NEED more practice.

Being able to drive to the range in the Ranger, step out and fire fifty rounds, then drive back... easy peasy.
:P

You can tell a lot about the character of a man...
by the way he treats those who can do nothing for him.

I don't look back at the things I can't do anymore with regret, I just look forward to the things I still can.

Next trip to the range I'll shoot a gun I'm used to, and maybe turn in a result that isn't as bad. I'm not embarrassed, I knew this one would take some getting used to. Okay, it's below my normal standard, but I'll get there. :) You can color my cheeks a little pink.

I don’t know, it looks to me like you did a pretty good job messing up all those pretty gongs I saw in another picture.
