I collect WWI and WWII firearms and go to great lengths to make them original. Sometimes just replacing the correct screws. I won't buy a mil-surp that can not be taken back.

I have a 1939 M1 with the later gas plug and op-rod. Most people don't care but I do. The problem is the original op-rods are usually cracked, hence the replacement.

But beauty is in the eye of the beholder, if it looks great to you that is all that counts.

If your rifle gets to the point where the incorrect gas plug and op-rod are just worrying you way too much, I'd be happy to baby sit it for you.

I am no true to the Hart collector.
But with that said , I have brought back an Longbranch Enfield that was sportsterized.
In fact Iam still looking for the correct barrel band's
And one swivel.
I love shooting them just, the way the troops. Shot them. Iam not into bayonets , so I don't collect them.
I enjoy 8MM mausers too and a few others.

Now that I think about it, it's about time I start looking for this winters project, something someone turned into a sportster for hunting.
That I can put back to it's military glory, and
Shoot it , like it was on the battle fields.
