Beautiful day for trap shoot!!
Re: Beautiful day for trap shoot!!
Bob didn't have time to go back the reservoir for pics this time, but I got a couple from behind the house. The orange steel target is 200m from here.

Re: Beautiful day for trap shoot!!
So I did your version of trap shooting today! Stood some clays on a bank and shot from different distances with my BBS 357 magnum (using only full power 357 mag ammo). Just using the standard stock sights, nothing too great.
From 25 yards it was very very easy, automatic hits. From 50 yards it became a little more difficult but still hit at a pretty good percentage. Then I stepped back to 100 yards and things got dicey. As you've mentioned in the past, the front sight completely covers the clay at this distance. I hit a few but not all. Just for kicks I stepped back to my shooting bench at about 140 yards. The clays were very very tiny at this distance and difficult to see (could have used some magnification!). To make things easier I propped the rifle up on a shooting bag to make it a steady. I hit some but not many at all.
All in all it was a fun way to shoot some 'reactive' targets. Thanks for the suggestion!
