poor range report

Post by biglever » Wed Oct 12, 2016 4:48 pm

Haven't been on the range for some time.
Made a quick trip. To quick, forgot my sand bags
And our weather man's 2 mile an hour wind,
Was like 35 mph.
So this target is a very poor example of what
This ammo can do , and myself and rifle included.
Target. Was only at 50 yds.
Top left shots were Winchester
Top right were Armscore
Bottom left. Aguilera
Bottom right CCI.
None the less it was fun trying to shoot.
For got to post the pic.

Not sure at all if this is a "poor range report." It doesn't look like it. But some other info will help out.

OK, your ammo brands say you're shooting a .22 rifle.
Are you shooting off hand, or using a bench rest?
What size are the target squares -- center larger one, four smaller ones? That will tell a good part of the story for the POIs at 50 yards.
Looks like 5-round groups with most in target.

I'm leaning easily toward a "good range report" :) --- and especially so, as you said, since you haven't hit the range for a while.

Curiosity question -- what model Henry are you shooting?

Classic Henry 22 lr.
On a bench with me holding the rifle.
The small square's are 2 & 3-4"
The last time I shot this gun I sited it in. With Remington gold solid bullet s not hollow pts.
And. All most shot the center out of the target.
So Iam just trying other ammo I have.
With out touching the site adj.

Thanks for the info. Just yesterday I shot 60 rounds of Rem GBs, and my SGC did well with them; a pretty good ammo.
So, you're shooting with 2-3/4" targets at 50 yards; yes, you have a good range report.
I'd bet all that is needed is a little more range time, a little more practice.

You stated what the best part of your shooting was: "..it was fun trying to shoot."
That's what counts most of all! :D

Your Henry Classic isn't going to win the Gold Metal but it would have put a rabbit in the frying pan with every shot.

That's a good way of looking at it.

Also probably more fun than I had at work today.

I know it can do better, a couple of the rounds that were flyers key hold the target paper.
The wind was bad, not a good day to try your best
At target shooting.
Thanks for the reply's everyone.

Wind is no fun some days but it's real world conditions where I live. Targets look ok to me for sure. Meat in the pan as mentioned.
