Cold morning at the range with the Henry BBS 357 Mag (Video)

Post by Mgr2 » Sat Nov 16, 2019 1:20 pm

Hi all.

A short video for you. A cold and misty november morning in Norway. Shooting some reloads with the Lee 358-158-RF bullet, Lee Alox coated, over 6.0 grains of Hodgdon Universal powder. Distance to target is first 100 meters / 109 yds, then 150 meters / 164 yards. A lovely morning, although the light is not ideal for shooting. Lots of roe deer tracks in the snow. Temperature is -4 C / 24 F.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I have hunted with the Henry BBS, the 2017 season. Did not shoot anything with it, but it is a great rifle to carry in the woods :-).

beautiful country indeed .... take away the snow and your range in the video could have easily been located in our part of the country

Nice video Mgr2. Mighty fine shooting. Looks like fine country also. How big[pounds] do those roe deer get to? Thanks.

Thanks, glad you liked it. The roe deer around here are not that big, around 30-35 pounds. I shot a red deer a month ago though, and filled the freezer with 35 kilos (77 pounds) of premium meat.

Nice shooting in the cold! Have you tried powder coated cast bullets? They seem to work very well in my .44 BBS.

Yes, I powder coat some of my bullets. On this occasion I also tried out some powder coated RCBS bullets, both with gas check and without. However did not see any difference in accuracy. With these very light loads Lee Alox works just fine.
