Yes, I have a Henry single shot in 308 Win. I have not had a chance to hunt with it but it is a nice little rifle, and it shoots pretty good, especially after replacing the trigger/hammer spring!

308 is one of my favorite bottleneck calibers .... what do you plan to hunt with yours .. .. do you load your own ammo .. .. be sure to follow the link below to where you can add your Henry to our community's total

Welcome to the forum from Kansas. The trigger pull on the single shots seem to be the one negative of them. What did you do to the trigger/hammer spring.

Yes, I plan on hunting with it, and I do reload as well. Haven't really seriously attempted to work up a load for my Henry yet, but I'm getting to it soon!

After getting the Henry I checked the trigger pull and found it to be extremely heavy, around 8-9 lbs. I did a Google search and found a post on another forum that was an on-going discussion about how to replace the factory springs with a spring that you could order through Grainger.com. The post recommended the 31 lb. spring, but after ordering a bag of 10 of them and trying one in my rifle, the rifle would not fire. The 31 lb. spring would not work, either by itself or with the smaller factory spring installed with it, By accident I stumbled upon a 42 lb. spring that Grainger sells and I ordered some of them just to try. At first the rifle would not fire with just the 42 lb. spring, but with the smaller factory spring installed, it shoots like a champ and the trigger pull was between 4-5 lbs!
