New Henry Owner in the Old Dominion

Hello all - old fart new to Henrys in Virginia. Just bought a big boy steel carbine in 41 mag to complement my blackhawk in 41 mag. Confession time - I bought the blackhawk because I bought a box lot of reloading stuff and it had dies and Nosler bullets for 41 mag. Then I bought the Henry because I had the blackhawk and the Ruger seemed lonely. But if my wife asks I inherited both from my dear old Dad. I'm primarily a dear and hog hunter, and it will be used for both. Here in the eastern woodlands most shots are under 75 yards so it will be perfect. I have always been a Marlin man and currently have 4 Marlin lever guns. The quality of the Henry out of the box is much better than the last new Marlin I bought (maybe 2 years ago). Also just got both eyes updated so can actually see a rear sight for the first time in 10 years. That Skinner rear sight is intriguing. So I'm interested in favorite loads for both the Nosler bullets and the FTX bullets they are loading into the LeverRevolution factory ammo. And any feedback on the Skinner on a carbine would be good as well. Thanks for letting me climb aboard.

Don't buy more truck than you can park.
Alan

I havent used the FTX bullets but I have used the Hornady XTP bullets. Powered with 17.5 grains or 18 grains of 2400 will put a smile on your face. 8 grains of unique is also a good load with a 210 gr plated bullet.

welcome indeed .... congrats on your purchase of a Henry 41 Mag .... we have several members who use 41's and I'm sure they will jump in .... I don't think you can go wrong with Nolsers .... as an FYI, Shooter's Pro Shop has 100ct boxes of Nosler 41 Caliber 210 Grain Sporting Handgun Revolver JHP on sale for 19.95 (regular price $33.45) .... they are a first class company to deal with .... be sure to follow Al's link above so you can add your Henry to our community's total

Cool! Another .41mag fan!! I bought the same Henry a couple years ago to go with my NMBH in that caliber. :D I prefer the Underwood 210grn XTP, since I don't reload.
